A Presidential Premiere in Dublin

Lincoln, Steven Spielberg’s biography of the former US president Abraham Lincoln’s troubles amid the US Civil War, was given its first airing outside of the United States at Dublin’s Savoy cinema.

The European Premier event was held in Dublin after actor Daniel Day Lewis – who won an Oscar for his performance in the title role – agreed to premiere the film in Ireland to raise funds for a hospice in his adopted home of Wicklow.

Cox Communications helped organise and promote the premiere, helped maintain constant liaison between Daniel Day Lewis himself and Wicklow Hospice Foundation, culminating in the successful sale of many items and props from the film at auction, raising thousands of Euros for the Hospice fund.
